The Bob Barker Company Foundation
The Bob Barker Company established a nonprofit foundation to support those who have been, or are, incarcerated. In an effort to prepare them physically, spiritually, and emotionally to re-enter society, the Foundation works directly with nonprofit and governmental entities, providing support and capacity building for proven, cost-effective delivery of services that reduce recidivism.
Since 2009, the Bob Barker Company Foundation has awarded more than $1,000,000 to more than 50 community-based projects. With a goal to partner with more organizations that are working to reduce recidivism, Bob Barker Company has created a $5,000,000 endowment from the company’s net profits. In addition to project support, the Foundation is expanding to include direct capacity building for nonprofit organizations who share the company’s vision of reducing recidivism. Environment
Bob Barker Company continuously strives to integrate sustainable practices throughout the business by offering customers a selection of product choices that are made from recycled and organic materials. In 2013, the company installed a 500-kilowatt solar farm on the rooftop of the main distribution center in North Carolina to generate over 700,000 kWh of electricity annually. To make buildings and operations even more efficient, the company installed energy efficient lighting and implemented a comprehensive recycling program which resulted in diverting 95% of waste from the landfill. Electric vehicle charging stations at two facility locations provide an incentive for team members to purchase electric or hybrid vehicles. Through a telework program, team members work from home each Friday during the summer to help further reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
